Asala says that there is no real distance between her and the press, and she would not be able to keep a distance between her and the reporters. “The press is always after something, which I try to avoid. I’ve always feared the press throughout my entire career and that is the reason why my interviews are rather rare”.

– – –

Asala Nasri, who holds a Bahraini passport along with her Syrian one, performed in the West Bank on Saturday as part of a festival promoting tourism in the biblical city of Bethlehem. It was her first trip to the Palestinian territories, and she was enthusiastic about the experience at a Sunday press conference.

‘‘Visiting Palestine has been always a dream that finally has come true,’’ she said.

Asala’s concert drew thousands of Palestinians and Arab Israelis, who were rewarded with traditional nationalist Palestinian and Syrian songs. The singer grew emotional as she sang the wistful lyrics to a Syrian tune: ‘‘God bring back the old days.’’

The crowd seemed pleased to have the Syrian star in the West Bank. ‘‘We used to go to Jordan to see Arab singers like Asala, but now we can see them here. It’s great,’’ attendee Bisharah Hayek said.

Asala is an outspoken supporter of the uprising against Syrian President Bashar Assad. ‘‘From the beginning, I stood alongside the Syrian revolution, alongside the educated Syrians, nationalist, civilized and moderate youths and their goal of having a civil and democratic state,’’ Asala said on Sunday.

A group of Assad supporters staged a protest in Bethlehem against Nasri’s visit,
but police kept them away from the concert.

Asala received extensive honors from the Palestinian Authority. President Mahmoud Abbas greeted her in Ramallah on Friday afternoon, and presidential guards have accompanied her on her tour.

The Syrian Diva also laid a wreath at the grave of late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat.

Asala also toured Hebron and Israel’s separation barrier with the West Bank during her trip. She is expected to visit Jerusalem on Monday before departing.

Asala has donated her diamond earrings
to her compatriots and she appealed to all Syrian artists to follow her lead in giving the Syrian citizens and children anything what they can spare and donate.

Asala considers standing by the Syrian citizens a natural choice. She stated that she has nothing against any specific person, and she chooses to stand by her country and people out of a moral and human obligation.

Asala issued a reminder, the Syrian people are suffering due to the unbalanced war between the strong Syrian Army and the unarmed Revolutionists who are sacrificing their blood to defend their country.

Asala Dares To Speak About Syria!

Around the Mawazine Festival in Morocco, Asala dares to say what she thinks about her own country. Asala softens her statement!
In a press conference held by Asala and Tarek, on Sunday night October 30th. 2011 at a hotel in Cairo, she said she will no longer record or release the song “Ah Law El Kersi Yehki” (if a chair could talk).

Asala said she does support the Revolution but she does not hate the Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad.

Some time ago, many Syrian and Lebanese stars refused to be guests on her TV Talk Show (Soula).

Therefore, everything leads to conclude Asala had to back a little from her previous position, in order to comply with “certain requirements” related to the TV Show she is hosting.

No information about Asala‘s press conference (published two days ago),
neither about the release of the song in question.

Asala Nasri has decided to stand up
against president Bashar Al Asad and show her support for the Revolution!

Asala will do that through releasing the song “Ah Law El Kersi Yehki” (if a chair could talk), which is dedicated to the Syrian Revolution.

She will celebrate its launching in a press conference, which she will hold tomorrow (September 22th.). During the press conference, Asala will fight back those who judged her for supporting the Revolution and standing against Bashar Al Asad.

The song was written by Rami Nasri, composed by Asala herself, and arranged by Hussein Najjar. The lyrics to the song criticizes the way president Al Asad refuses to let go of the presidency chair and at the same time laments those who died for the cause of the Syrian Revolution.

    Is Asala Nasri changing career?
Persisting rumors in the media are saying Asala will be hosting a TV Talk-Show in January 2012, which will be produced and directed by Tarek Alarian. If that is the case, Asala might quit singing for some time during next year! Maybe she has enough of traveling and living in hotels, and wants to dedicate more time to her family life.

However, this News is not confirmed, because lots of contradictory information and propaganda is coming out from Middle-East at this time.

  20. 06-09-2011:
Rumors are persistent about Asala Nasri’s new song
fiercely criticizing Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and his regime.

Allegedly, the track was composed by Asala herself, and openly attacks Al-Assad despite what she has been subjected to, since supporting Syrian revolutionists.

Asala keeps saying publicly she supports the revolution in her country, especially after the number of deaths exceeded 3,000. Asala says that she and millions of others throughout Syria are not convinced by claims that the revolutionists are criminals and vandals. She is explaining “We are people asking for our most basic Rights, we want a country we belong to, can be proud of, that we own a small part of. We don’t feel that a country can be owned by a single person”.

After she released several statements in support of the uprising, Asala has mixed support. Having been attacked by regime loyalists, whilst oppositionists have called her the Singer of The Syrian Revolution.

Asala also faces a campaign of criticism from Syrian celebrities after joining the rank of the revolutionists and taking a stand against Bashar Al-Assad. Some Syrian stars have called her ungrateful to the Al-Assad family, and others have demanded that she be stripped of her Syrian nationality.

“I do get annoyed by direct criticism, in fact I hate it, despite how honest I am, but honesty is one thing and hurting someone is another.”. Regarding the rumors surrounding her, Asala said that they don’t bother her, because those are just silly. She said: “Rumors claiming that I’ve split up with my husband, and rumors along those lines could come out anytime, but these types of rumors don’t bother me, people respect me and that’s all what matters to me.”.

Asala confirmed that her married life is stable because it is based on friendship and a huge amount of love. “Tareq and I trust each other and we talk about things that most men and women don’t discuss. We share every little detail and hide nothing from each other. We have a beautiful friendship and trust. I really needed someone to trust me because I have very close relationships with people, and that’s why I needed my partner to trust me and to understand.”.

She continued: “I think I’m unique, not only in the entertainment world but in the social world too. For example, it is unacceptable to greet someone coldly when I’ve known them for 16 years, there has to be a type of love and respect between people. The person close to me should know why I act the way I do without asking me for a reason, because the way I behave has everything to do with the humane way of thinking I possess.”.
Speaking about her relationship with Rotana, she said “The truth is that I just needed some space from Rotana, but people misunderstood that move.”.

Asala said that she has been very busy lately being pregnant and taking care of her kids. Also, producing her latest Gulf album “Qanoon Keifak” (2010) was a lot of work, which has been very successful. After being that much busy she felt she needed some rest!

Giving her opinion on divorce that some artists have been through, she said that getting divorced when there are kids involved is very difficult. She feels that divorce is the best option for those who don’t get along together anymore.”.

Finally, about the near future she said “Most interesting events in my life are unplanned and unexpected. However, people would like me not to change, and I hope to remain the way I am.”.
